Our Story
Born in the heart of North Wales, Peregrine Circus drifts into towns and villages, a collective of acrobats, artists and musicians; united by a love of live performance and a deep connection to the landscapes and legends of the land.
We move where stories settle - arriving quietly in towns and villages, carrying something that wasn’t there before.
Peregrine Circus is a traditional, all-human, village green circus: no animals, only people, artistry, and the magic they create together.
Founded and directed by Robin Timson, Peregrine Circus enters its second year following the whirlwind success of its 2025 debut show.

Meet the Team
The creative team behind Belly of the Whale brings together choreographers, designers, and musicians to shape a world born of myth and tide. Through movement, sound, and design, they conjure an oceanic realm where imagination drifts beneath the waves.

Choreographer
Kate Smyth
With a deep passion for Wales, and boundless enthusiasm, Kate is delighted to join forces with director Robin Timson of Peregrine Circus for the upcoming production of Belly of the Whale - a world of movement, rhythm, and deep emotion.
For Kate, this is always a special time: each day of rehearsal brings new discoveries as the company dives into the flow of the show, finding the dynamic energy, shared spirit, and unexpected beauty in every individual artist and musician who brings this world to life.
Their artistry of unique skills will be both challenged and transformed, as together they create a living ocean of sound and motion within the tent.

Musical Director
Seth Bye
Seth Bye leads the music of Belly of the Whale with spirit, sensitivity, and a touch of mischief. As Musical Director for Peregrine Circus, he brings together musicians and instruments from across worlds - weaving melodies that rise and fall like the sea itself.
Seth is a composer and multi-instrumentalist specialising in traditional music styles. He is performing on fiddle, accordion, bass, tenor guitar, and vocals.
Seth is often known for his 870-mile foot-powered tour of the Wales Coast Path with Filkin’s Drift—an endeavor described by Mark Radcliffe as a 'truly epic journey' (BBC Radio 2). You can also catch him in a duo with Cori Smith, a fellow Peregrine musician. Check out Tightrope Moon.

Costume Designer
Beth Bullock
Costume designer Beth Bullock brings her creative artistry to Peregrine Circus once again, crafting the visual identity of Belly of the Whale through fabric, texture, and tone.
Having worked on Peregrine’s debut show, working from her studio in Gloucestershire she has loved being back designing the costumes and piecing them together for this years Peregrine show in the magical setting of North Wales. A big thanks to Lara Skowronska, Emily Ejderos and Edie Bainbridge for bringing the costume ideas to life.

Scenic Designer
Annabel Edkins
Scenic designer Annabel Edkins returns to bring her distinctive vision to Peregrine Circus, shaping the visual world of Belly of the Whale - an immersive realm where myth and sea merge.
Her designs transform the circus tent into a living, breathing world - a place of light, shadow, and shifting depth. Working closely with the creative team, Annabel draws inspiration from the movement of water, the texture of natural forms, and the timeless mystery of what lies beneath the waves.

Costume & Set Maker
Edie Bainbridge
Edie Bainbridge is a multidisciplinary artist, mainly focusing on costume design. As a professional trick rider herself, she brings expertise from on and off stage to her work. For this production Edie designed and created the headdresses and contributed to the construction of the set.

Costume Maker
Emily Ejderos
Costume maker Emily Ejderos is delighted to be part of the Peregrine Circus costume team for a second year running.
Having grown up in the mystical woods of Sweden, Emily feels a strong connection to North Wales and draws inspiration from its landscape and folklore. She enjoys working on ideas and projects that tell stories of a magical underworld through colour and fabric.
